International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2022

Stem Squad Girls Pink
Michael Miller Stem Squad Girls Pink

February 11th is International Day of Women and Girls in Science.

What is Women in Science Day? It is an annual day “to recognize the critical role women and girls play in science and technology”, established in December 2015 by The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).

I hope you enjoy our science-themed products at Zinnia’s Closet. I worked as a scientist before I became a mom and I love to share my passion for science with others. I hope I am able to inspire some young girls and spark their curiosity in science with the fun science fabric that I find.

This fabric is called STEM Squad Girls in Science on Pink from Michael Miller Fabrics. Happy Women in Science Day!

The Great Conjunction

In honor of tonight’s Great Conjunction between Jupiter and Saturn, enjoy this Intergalactic Planets fabric designed by Dan Morris for QT Fabrics.

The Great Conjunction will occur on December 21, 2020 when Jupiter and Saturn will appear in the southwestern sky just after sunset only 0.1 degrees (6 arc-minutes) apart. The two planets can be seen close together throughout the month of December, but on December 21 they will appear the closest.

Jupiter and Saturn pass each other about once every 20 years. 2020 is special, though, because it has been about 400 years since the planets have passed this close to each other, and nearly 800 years since this has happened at night.

Take a look outside around 6pm tonight and enjoy the sight! If you’d like to see the bag I made with this fabric, click here.
